Logging into Virtual Desktop

Virtual Desktop is a virtual machine that is accessed via a web browser. It allows employees to work remotely by letting them access to everything a Cecil College computer can access from a personal computer. Before an employee can use Virtual Desktop they need permissions from their VP. Once they have permission from a VP a System Administrator can give the actual permissions required to get into the Virtual Desktop.

Saving data on the virtual machine
If a user wants to save any data on the virtual desktop, they will need to save it to their Home Directory Drive, often mapped as the M Drive. All unsaved data will be lost after the user logs off.

  1. Start by navigating to remote.cecil.edu OR virtualdesktop.cecil.edu
  2. This will bring you to a screen with a computer icon that says “Staff Session”, click on the icon.

  1. A pop-up will appear. If you would like your remote desktop environment to be able to print to your local printer make sure that the blue checkbox next to “Printer” is selected. If you would like to be able to use the clipboard (copy/paste) function between your local machine and your remote desktop environment, ensure the blue checkbox next to “Clipboard” is selected. You can also allow file transfer between your computer and the virtual desktop. Alternatively, if you want to ensure that these permissions are denied, make sure the checkbox remains unchecked. Click “Allow”.
