Respondus Lockdown Browser
Environment
Instructions
Respondus Lockdown browser is a testing software that stops test takers from accessing outside sources during a test. It is used to minimize cheating. Cecil College students need to download Respondus from a specific link that should be provided by their teacher. This allows the student to download a version of Respondus that is linked to the college. To use Respondus, a student will need to close all open applications and then open Respondus. Then they will chose the LMS they are using (Canvas). They will be brought to the home page in that LMS and from there they can navigate to their test.
Using IPads with Respondus
There is a Respondus mobile app, but there is also a setting in Respondus that stops students using iPads from taking the exam. This setting can be reversed by the teacher using these steps:
- Go to the course, and then the Lockdown Browser dashboard.
- Find the exam that requires the use of LockDown Browser (or LockDown Browser and Monitor)
- Click on the down arrow and then Setting.
- Under LockDown Browser Settings, click to expand the options under Advanced Settings.
- Check the 3rd-third option on the list to allow students to take the exam using the LockDown Browser app on the iPad.
