Adobe Sign: Signing a Document

Detailed description of the problem

When a document has been sent to you that requires your signature, you will receive an email with contents similar to the following. Click the “Review and Sign” button.

  1. This will bring you to a document filling and signing page.                 
  2. Make sure to check all of the information that has been entered in the form for accuracy. If there is information on the form that you feel is inaccurate, please contact the appropriate party.

  1. If you need to cancel a form for any reason, you can do so by clicking on the options tab on the top left corner. A drop down will appear and you can select “I will not e-sign”. Once selected, it will allow you to type a reason for the refusal and then send an email to the appropriate parties.

  1. Make sure you fill any portions of the form that you are required to fill. You will know if a form field is available for you to edit if there is a light pink box where the field is as shown below. You will also know if you click on the field and you are able to type into it. There are some forms that you will not be required to type any information, such as Contract forms that are pre-filled.

  1. Once you have confirmed everything and filled all of the necessary form fields, you are ready to sign the document. The portion you are meant to sign will also be contained in a light peach colored box and contain a red asterisk followed by a note that says “Click here to sign”. Click on the field .Note: The date field in this example is automatically populated with the date you sign the form.

  1. Once you have clicked on the “Click here to sign” field, there are several options for you to sign.You can type your signature, draw it with the computer cursor, include an image of a signature or have a message sent to your mobile device so that you can sign from there. Select the form of signature you want to use and include your signature. Once you have finished, click “Apply”.

  1. At the bottom of the page, you will see a black toolbar with a blue button that says “Click to Sign”. Click this button.

  1. A screen will pop-up confirming the document has been signed and telling you the next party it is being sent to. You can download a copy for yourself at this stage if you choose to, but keep in mind you will receive a final copy of the form once it is completed by all involved parties.

  1. As stated in the last step, you will receive a copy of the final agreement. Once all parties have finished signing and approving, you will receive access to the completed contract which will be forwarded to the same email address the original agreement was sent to. The contents of the email will look similar to below. If you click on “Open agreement” you can view the signed agreement and download a copy from there.
