How to Password Protect a PDF file

Resolution
  1. Start by opening up the desired PDF file.
  2. In the upper left hand corner, click the “File” button.

  1. A drop down menu will appear. Select “Protect Using Password”.

  1. A pop-up will appear. Select whether you want the password protection to be for viewing or editing. If you select viewing, a password will be required to see the document. If you select editing, then the person will be able to view the document but not able to edit it without a password. Enter the password of your choice and then re-enter it to confirm it. Finish by selecting “Apply”.

  1. You will know that your password has been applied when you the word “SECURED” next to the document title in the upper left hand corner.
