How to Password Protect a PDF file
Resolution
- Start by opening up the desired PDF file.
- In the upper left hand corner, click the “File” button.
- A drop down menu will appear. Select “Protect Using Password”.
- A pop-up will appear. Select whether you want the password protection to be for viewing or editing. If you select viewing, a password will be required to see the document. If you select editing, then the person will be able to view the document but not able to edit it without a password. Enter the password of your choice and then re-enter it to confirm it. Finish by selecting “Apply”.
- You will know that your password has been applied when you the word “SECURED” next to the document title in the upper left hand corner.
