Setting a Static IP Address (Testing Center)

Set Static IP Address for Testing Center Machines:

A static IP address is used to accommodate MFA for testing center machines. Below are the instructions for applying a static IP address:

  1. Log into the computer, record original IP, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway:
    • Open Terminal
    • Type the command: ipconfig /all
    • Check for IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway
    • Leave the console, you'll need to check to see that the IP has changed
  2. Set a Static IP:
    • Open Control Panel
    • Under Network and Internet View Network Status and Tasks
    • Click Ethernet (small blue lettering next to connections)
    • Properties
    • Select IPv4 (double click)
    • Toggle IPv4
  3. Reference: (\\nefs\information technology\Testing Center CA Spreadsheet) for the current IP range, Subnet Mask and DNS Server 
    • Enter new IP
    • Enter subnet mask
    • Enter default gateway
  4. Toggle Use the following DNS server:
    • Enter preferred DNS
    • Enter alternative DNS server
    • Check validate settings upon exit
    • Click OK. Windows will troubleshoot and should find "no problems". Then close this window
  5. Check console where you ran ipconfig again, to make sure the IP has changed
  6. Restart the computer.
